There are 2 accommodation places and a restaurant serving in the summer in Karester Plateau. Locals live in other houses. In the summer months, local people continue their natural lives with animal husbandry for milk and dairy production. The local people here provide fresh milk to the tourists.
HOW TO GET TO KARESTER PLATEAU?
You can reach Karester plateau from Uzungöl center by using 2 different roads.
The shortest way is to go through Uzungöl village on the right side of the mosque, pass through Galoomad location, and you can see Uzungöl from very beautiful angles and photograph it from a bird’s eye view. We have added the google maps path below.
On the second road, you can follow the road that goes by the Uzungöl Observation Terrace and go through Lustra Plateau to visit a little more. This is a nice alternative route for those who want to see the Lustra Plateau and breathe the atmosphere there. In general, the road route of tour companies is like this. WHERE IS THE KARESTER PLATEAU
Karester plateau is right on the top of the southern mountain where you can see Uzungöl from a bird’s eye view. Uzungöl lake was formed as a result of the collapse of the hill where the Karester plateau was located. There is Durnalı Plateau in the immediate vicinity of Karester Plateau. There is a distance of 3.5 km between Durnalı Plateau and Karester Plateau. For this reason, Karester Plateau can be reached from Karaçam village, Şekersu Plateau, Staronar Plateau, Salimodi Plateau and Glisura.
WHEN TO GO?
Karester Plateau roads open in the spring. You can be here after spring until winter. There is no vehicle transportation during the winter months. For the question of when to go to Karester Plateau, we can say that it is spring, summer and autumn. Because at these times the road is open to transportation. In winter, you can only go with snowmobiles and hiking. However, we do not recommend going in winter. Local people and security forces should be informed in case of a visit. During the winter, the snow is frozen because of the blizzard. The walk is very difficult and hidden avalanches can occur. In the winter months, local people and no businesses are here.
